CAFOD CAFOD is an integral part of the Catholic Church. Our supporters are mainly from the Catholic community and our mandate comes from the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, but we welcome support from people of all faiths and none. We have a presence in each diocese of England and Wales, which work directly with the parish communities in their area. The value of partnership, present throughout Catholic Social Teaching, is central to CAFOD’s work overseas. We rely on and empower local people who have technical expertise. Because they are part of their communities, they are best placed to respond to needs. We are part of a Church network with a local presence in 165 countries and territories. As one of the largest aid networks in the world, we can help people in remote areas, in war zones and who are discriminated against. The Church often reaches the poorest people, in areas where social care and government structures aren’t so strong.

Missio Proud to be the Pope’s charity for world mission Missio ignites God’s love by helping local missionaries to work alongside global communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief. Sometimes this need might be very specific: a motorbike for a Priest to celebrate Mass in remote villages; a simple community hall so people can gather together; vaccinations to protect vulnerable children. Whatever our missionaries need to help them share the joy of the Gospel, Missio strives to provide it.

Blessed Sacrament DC We are located just off Chevy Chase Circle in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of Washington, DC, a few steps over the Maryland line. Founded in 1911, we have surpassed our hundredth anniversary of service. At Blessed Sacrament you will find a rich variety of liturgies, inspired preaching, and outstanding faith formation programs for both adults and children. Following the words of Pope Francis, "Christ leads us to go out from ourselves more and more, to give ourselves and to serve others," we strive to live out the name of our parish with a tremendous variety of social justice programs as well. We hope you will visit our website often. If you are a visitor to the area, we hope you will come and worship with us. If you have been away from the Church for awhile and have thought about coming back, know that you will feel welcomed here at Blessed Sacrament.
