Trauma Perceptive Practice
At St Joseph's all staff receive TPP training, this is the Essex approach to understanding behaviour and supporting emotional wellbeing. This practice enables us to support all pupils, including those whose emotional wellbeing needs can sometimes impact their learning. We strive to promote an environment which promotes pupils sense of belonging, enabling them to build resilience and develop safe relationships. TPP creates an underlying culture of mutual respect and support so that pupils are provided with clear expectations. Staff have helpful and healthy conversations with each other using reflective practice. Adults recognise and respond supportively to those that have been affected by traumatic stress so that pupils can make progress in their learning. We realise the prevalence and impact of trauma for children, families and staff.
TPP Values:
- Compassion and kindness instead of blame and shame
- Hope instead of hopelessness
- Connection and belonging rather than disconnection
