A Prayer for International Nurses Day
Our current RE theme in all classes is...Pentecost
Allie and Mollie's great-Grandad was a poet and musician, he wrote music for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and songs for The London Emmanuel Choir. He also worked very closely with his local Church in Dagenham, playing the music for every Sunday Mass. In 1975 he had a poetry book published. Here is a poem from the book, which is very fitting with our learning at home...
FRIDAY - LONG AGO
The sky was grey and stormy
Angry! mighty winds did blow
As Jesus went to Calvary
On a Friday, long ago.
There, they stripped him of garments
On a cross, they hung him high
Even then, he looked to heaven
And forgave them, though soon he was to die.
But clouds gave way to sunshine
In three days, he rose from the dead
And in glory ascended to heaven
What tears of joy were shed.
Many hearts were filled with gladness
From the mountains to the sea
Far across the heights of Carmel
To the shores of Galilee

Prayers for the Pandemic
Prayer for those affected by Coronavirus
God our Father, we pray for those who are suffering, for those who are grieving, for those who are anxious, and for those who are working tirelessly to care for the sick. God our Father, your Son Jesus Christ came into our world to heal us of all division and bring us life in abundance. By the power of your Spirit help us strive together as one family of many nations to help those in greatest need during this crisis. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Risen Lord. Amen.
