Maths

Monday & Tuesday:

Reception – Draw 4 circles, label one ‘fruit’, one ‘vegetable’ one ‘meat’ and one ‘other’. Next draw all of the foods that the hungry caterpillar ate throughout the week.

Year 1 – Write in a list 0 – 20 in numerals, alongside write the numbers in words. 0 – zero etc.

  

Wednesday:

Reception – Count to find the total of all the foods in each of your circles, which one has more? Which one has fewer?

Year 1 – Identify and write 1 more and 1 less of the following numbers:

46, 73, 15, 7, 29, 50, 32, 90.

 

Thursday:

Reception – Pictorial addition.

Drawing the fruit I would like you to complete some simple addition. i.e

2 pears (draw the 2 pears) + 1 apple (draw the apple) = 3 (altogether)

3 plums + 1 apple = 

2 pears + 4 strawberries =

5 oranges + 2 pears =

Ext – Can you think of your own?

Year 1 – Write, read aloud and complete to following mathematical statements. (adult please ensure your child is using the vocabulary for the mathematical symbols). Feel free to use objects/numberlines to support your learning.

0 + 11 =         7 + 5 =          10 + 6 =        13 + 4 =        17 + 3 =  

 

Friday:

Reception – Problem solving.

Q1, If the hungry caterpillar ate 5 oranges on Friday, and 2 pears on Tuesday, how many pieces of fruit will he have eaten in total?

Q2, If the hungry caterpillar shared the strawberries with his friend Sarah the spider, how many would they get each?

Q3, On Friday there were 5 oranges, Sarah the spider ate 2 of them, How many are left?
