Year 6 Leaver's Mass - Wednesday 22nd July 2020
At a time when it is hard for pupils and parents to gather in school a special Year 6 Mass will be live streamed from Walsingham House, Abbotswick next Wednesday the 22nd July at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome online and all the details and direct link to the broadcast are below ( please see links.)
The Mass includes a special message for Year 6 from Bishop Alan. We hope this will be a lovely moment for Year 6's in school, perhaps with parents or grandparents sharing from home, to mark many precious memories from primary school and the transition to secondary school. The theme for the Mass is:
Ephesians 2:10 " You are God's work of art."

This is a request for any parent/ carer of a Year 6 Leaver that would like to record a prayer for Leaver's Mass on Wednesday 22nd July. Perhaps you would like to read the Parent's Prayer ( see below ) or maybe you would like to share the filming of 'Footprints' with some other parents? It would be lovely if parents felt able to share our special Mass in this unique way.
Please see below and contact Mrs Maguire if you feel able to participate.
If you have anything special that you would like to have included in the service please get in touch with Mrs Maguire.
Also, please find below the ' I am unique ' prayer. All Year 6 children will need to learn this by heart for the service.
On behalf of all parents I offer you the light of love.
This is a light we lit for you a long time ago. It is the light you depended on in those early days, the light you ran to when things went wrong. The light that was left on for you, because you were afraid of the dark. Carry this light of love and when you find that the light is flickering, blown about by worries and fear, remember that there will always be a light burning for you in that place called home.
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered "My precious child, I love you and I will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
' I am unique ' Prayer ( ALL year 6 children to learn by heart for Mass.)
I am unique,
I am worth celebrating,
I am your special child,
There is no-one else with my gifts, my talents, my personality,
And I offer them now,
In service to you Lord.

We have been working hard to prepare the school for you. Things might be a bit different when you come back but we don’t want you to worry. We will be here to help you with everything and you mustn’t be afraid to ask us any questions about anything. Don’t worry if you find anything confusing as it is new for everybody.
We want you to know that you are safe in school, we are just being extra careful to make sure that everything can get back to normal as soon as possible.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you and we will make it as fun as possible.
I have attached a picture of the classroom so you can see how things will look.
